A 200-hectare area in the territory of Bonheiden and Haacht will be transformed into two flood control areas. In the future, the inhabitants of the entire region will have to worry less about getting wet feet. The nature in the alluvial meadows will also be given a boost. The showpiece of this project is the Pikhaken wetlands, where we will restore the habitat of the rare great crested newts and the corncrake. Come and enjoy the renewed towpaths along the winding Dyle.
