The Durme is a tormented river with a long history. To set it back onto the right track, it will need some extra elbow room. Various measures will be needed. In seven zones totalling 205 hectares – from Hamme to Temse, Waasmunster, Zele and Lokeren – we will implement some projects with a safety function and others will be purely focussed on the development of the nature. Here, dredged material will also be used creatively. For sports and recreation, be sure to visit the recreational forests and the wooden walkways.
