Upstream from the Scheldt, next to the book village of Fort Lillo is the Depoldering of Lillo. This 10-hectare depoldered area provides the river with more flooding space but is also a true hotspot for breeding birds. You can access the towpath on the ring levee throughout the entire year, but if the gates to the breeding island are closed, it is better to let the birds get their rest.
